WHERE IT STARTED

BEFORE CULTURE SHOCK APPAREL HAD A NAME, THERE WERE LOUD RECORDS, OLD-SCHOOL SKETCHBOOKS, HORROR MOVIES, COMIC BOOKS, AIRBRUSHED EXPERIMENTS, AND BLACK-AND-WHITE INK DRAWINGS.
THE BRAND GREW FROM THAT MIX: MUSIC, MONSTERS, DIY ART, AND THE BELIEF THAT IF SOMETHING DID NOT EXIST YET, WE COULD MAKE IT OURSELVES.
BEHIND THE PRINT

THE PRESS
Our shirts are screen printed in-house in Phoenix on our manual Workhorse press. It is hands-on and every run gets checked as it comes off the press.

THE INK
We use inks that fit the artwork, from bold spot colors to specialty finishes like glow-in-the-dark and metallic effects when the design calls for it.

THE FINISH
Each print is cured and inspected before it leaves our shop. We care about how the shirt feels, how the artwork holds up, and how it looks after real wear.

BEFORE THE BRAND - CIRCA 1991
One of the first hand-painted infant shirts, made when baby clothes had plenty of pastels but no place for heavy metal.
OUT IN THE WILD

SKETCHES & STRANGE STARTS

ROUGH IDEAS
The early marks are usually loose: shapes, expressions, monsters, lettering, and whatever strange detail starts pulling the design forward. Once the idea feels right, it gets tightened, inked, separated, and prepared for screen printing.
SEEN IN MOTION
A few moments where our shirts found their way into music videos, live stages, and creative spaces. We’re grateful whenever someone chooses to wear our artwork out in the world.
PRINTS, PROMOS & ORIGINAL ART

PUBLISHING
Some of our earlier creative work found its way into books, magazine pages, and published collaborations. Each project taught us something about storytelling, layout, and how artwork lives once it leaves the studio.

ORIGINAL PAINTINGS & LIMITED PRINTS
We’ve created limited-run printed pieces and one-of-a-kind hand-painted items connected to music and band culture. From small apparel runs to custom-painted leather jackets, each project was made as an individual piece rather than mass-produced work.

PROMOTIONAL POSTERS
We’ve had the honor of creating illustrated poster artwork for musicians, actors, and event signings. Each piece was made to celebrate their appearance and give the guest, character, or project a look that felt personal.
ALONG THE WAY

PATHS CROSSED
Some of the best parts of this journey have been the unexpected moments: crossing paths with artists, musicians, makers, collectors, friends, and others who connected with us along the way.

BOOTH LIFE
Behind every event is a lot of setup, late nights, packed bins, folding tables, and the work of turning a small booth into a place people want to stop.
